Hajwala

A drifting game with 10M+ downloads on PlayStation 4 and mobile.

Hajwala is a drifting game by Rababa Games in Amman. It passed ten million downloads on mobile and was brought to PlayStation 4. I was one of about ten people on the team, and I owned the systems underneath it: platform code, hardware, networking and saves.

Bringing it to PlayStation 4

I ran the PS4 version from start to finish: porting, platform integration, performance, and the certification process needed to release on the PlayStation Store. That meant turning a mobile codebase into something that met console requirements, without splitting the game into two products the team would have to maintain separately.

Steering wheels

A drifting game should be played with a wheel. I wrote a native C++ plugin that connected Logitech steering wheels to the game on PlayStation, and exposed it cleanly to the Unity side so designers could tune the feel without touching native code.

Multiplayer

I worked on the online multiplayer, built on Photon, so players could race each other in real time.

Saves that survive anything

Players lose progress when a game crashes or a phone dies mid-write. I designed a crash-safe save system in C# that writes atomically and recovers cleanly, which cut reported data loss by around 90%.
